Diagnostics
In veterinary medicine, just as with humans, there are often conditions or medical issues that can’t be seen on the surface. In these cases, diagnostic services are critical in identifying and diagnosing medical concerns in a timely manner and establishing the most effective course of treatment.
At Eastern Passage Village Veterinary Hospital we offer a wide range of comprehensive diagnostic services for our patients, including radiology – or x-rays – which help our veterinarians evaluate muscular-skeletal, cardiovascular (cardiopulmonary), gastrointestinal, reproductive and urinary systems. We also provide ultrasonography diagnostics for our patients, as well as on a referral basis. Ultrasound uses high frequency sound waves, which allows us to visualise the inside of an animals abdomen or chest. It allows us to get a clear view of the internal organs such as liver, kidneys, heart etc.. in more detail than radiographs. It allows us to have another diagnostic piece to the puzzle, when we are trying to determine why your pet is ill.
To assist with our diagnostic services, we have a full on-site laboratory at our facility through which we can quickly conduct tests such as blood work, parasite diagnosis, cytology, cultures and urine analysis. This allows us to receive faster results so that we can ensure a timely diagnosis and treatment plan for your pet. For more specialised blood work results, we also work with an off-site laboratory that provides 24 hour results.and ultrasound, a non-invasive, state-of-the-art technology that uses sound waves to painlessly examine specific internal organs, primarily the heart and abdominal organs.
