Dr. Courtney Sherlock grew up in Fall River, Nova Scotia. She now lives in Cow Bay with her husband Adam and three children. Along with the human family members, they currently have two dogs, four cats and 12 pet chickens. They fight the urge daily to grow their fur/feathered family.

When Dr. Sherlock was in university, her first dog had some medical issues and that experience led her to join the field of veterinary medicine. She has greatly enjoyed seeing clients and growing her professional career through Eastern Passage vet over the last 15 years. She started at this hospital in 2006 as a part time associate veterinarian, and now is the owner of EPVVH as well as several other veterinary hospitals.

Her passion is supporting her team and trying to find ways every day that she can make their lives easier, improve the customer experience and help more pets live long and healthy lives! When she isn’t working in the veterinary hospitals, you can often see Dr. Sherlock running around the roads and trails of Cow Bay.

Dr. Crystal Craig graduated from the Atlantic Veterinary College (AVC) in 2008. Originally from New Brunswick, Crystal obtained a BSc from the University of New Brunswick before going to the AVC.  Crystal has been practicing in the Eastern Passage/Dartmouth area for the last 12 years.  Crystal has a strong interest in surgery and feline medicine and enjoys spending time with her Greyhound and 3 very spoiled cats.  In her spare time, she enjoys gardening, camping and reading.

Dr Francine Nichols grew up in multiple provinces across Canada. It was from her experience working at a small animal practice in King City, ON while she was in high school that inspired her to pursue her career in veterinary medicine. Dr Nichols attended the University of Guelph for her BSc, and graduated from the Ontario Veterinary College in 2010. She worked in New Brunswick, Alberta, and Newfoundland before finally settling down here in the HRM to join our team.When she is not at work Dr Nichols enjoys spending quality time with her 2 year old, Ariel, her golden retrievers, Mowgli and Bojangles, and her husband, Matt.

Dr. Kelly Rawlings was raised in Cole Harbour, Nova Scotia. She received a Bachelor in Dental Hygiene from Dalhousie University before deciding to attend the Atlantic Veterinary College in PEI. She graduated in 2015 and moved to Ontario for several years. While in Ontario, Kelly had the opportunity to gain valuable experience in her areas of interest – feline medicine, surgery and dentistry. She has recently moved back to Nova Scotia and is so excited to serve her hometown community!

Bethany grew up in the Musquodoboit Valley. She graduated from the Atlantic Veterinary College in 2016 and has worked in small animal medicine since then.

Bethany is excited to be back in the city with her dog, Jax. Outside of work, she enjoys finding new creative hobbies and trying to find a new trail with a fantastic view.

Christie lives in Eastern Passage with her Labrador Retriever, Deidrich, and her three cats Marley, Nepeta and Todd. She started volunteering at Eastern Passage Village Veterinary Hospital 11 years ago, and then she was hired on as a kennel assistant. She has always loved working with animals, and giving them the care that they need and deserve.

After having the opportunity to work in a veterinary hospital at a young age, she knew that this was the career for her. She decided to go to school to become a Registered Veterinary Technician, and graduated from the Dalhousie Agricultural College in 2017 with her diploma in veterinary technology. She has a special interest in clinical pathology and cytology. Outside of work, Christie enjoys scouting, camping, canoeing and hiking. She also has a keen interest in working with service animals.

Katie grew up in Lower Sackville, Nova Scotia and currently lives in Dartmouth with her three cats, Waffles, Simon and Bean.

Katie has always been interested in medicine and animal so veterinary medicine seemed like a perfect fit. She has a specific interest in anesthesia and surgery.

When Katie isn’t working, she likes to spend her time reading a good book!

Diane grew up in Musquodoboit Harbour, Nova Scotia. She currently lives in East Chezzetcook with her son Ben, and her two cats Baxter and Bridgette.

Diane has always had a love for animals, and graduated from the Nova Scotia Agricultural College in 2011 as a Registered Veterinary Technician. Over the years, she became interested in business and human resources, which led her to become the Practice Manager at Eastern Passage Village Veterinary Hospital and in 2022 the Area Manager for the Village Veterinary Group.  She loves taking care of our team, and ensuring they have everything they need to perform, and love their job.

When Diane is not working, she enjoys spending time with her son, being outdoors (especially at the beach), and playing softball in the summer months.

Amanda was born and raised in Ontario. She recently moved to Nova Scotia this past summer, and currently live in Eastern Passage with her 2 kids, husband and jack russell terrier. The last 6 years she has been as a stay at home mom, but recently came back into the field as a Veterinary Assistant. She started working in the veterinary field in 2005, and it is her true passion.

When Amanda is not at work, she enjoys camping, hiking, spending time at the beach and being outdoors! She also loves hockey (especially the Detroit Redwings).

Cassandra grew up and currently lives in Eastern Passage, Nova Scotia with her partner Stephen, her two kids Hudson and Nolan, and her Chocolate Lab Layla.

Cassandra has always had a love for animals since she was little. You’ll always catch her trying to interact with different species. She recently graduated from the Veterinary Assistant program at MBC. Connecting with clients and their pets are her favorite part of the job.

When Cassandra is not working, she enjoys hitting up the trails, photography and spending time with her family.

Gillian was born in Newfoundland, but currently lives here in Eastern Passage with her partner Dalton and their Sheltie, Simon.

When Gillian is not at work, she enjoys playing video games, hanging out with friends, binge watching TV shows, camping and paddle boarding.

Shannon grew up in Lincoln and moved to Nova Scotia in 2010 to attend the Veterinary Assistant program at the Maritime Business College. Shannon loves to spend time outside. She enjoys relaxing at the beach, and spending time at her camper when the warmer weather starts.

When Shannon is not at work, she enjoys spending time with her husband Devon, and her friends and family. She has four cats Batman, Waffles, Alfalfa and Goonie and one dog named Daisy.

Shannon has loved animals all her life so she knew working with animals was the perfect job for her!

Grace graduated from the veterinary technology program at the Dalhousie Agricultural College.  We are excited to announce that she successfully passed her VTNE this fall.  Super proud of all she’s accomplished in her 2 plus years here at EPVVH.

In her downtime she likes spending time at home with her cat Tony and her family.

Maggie was born and raised in Eastern Passage, Nova Scotia. She recently graduated her Veterinary Assistant program. When she isn’t working, she enjoys horseback riding, camping, fishing and adventurous hikes with her boyfriend Coady, Boston Terrier, Tequila and her cat Medusa. Maggie has an interest in surgery and pharmacy and is studying to become a Registered Veterinary Technician!

Nora grew up in the United States and traveled to fourteen different countries before meeting her husband in a state park in North Dakota.

Nora has always had a love of animals; her first baby was a cat named Hopper that lived for sixteen years. She and her husband moved to Eastern Passage in 2019 and currently have a little family of two kitty babies (Lily and Olive), and a human baby (Thomas).

Outside of work Nora loves reading, exploring Nova Scotia, hanging out with her family, and making little art projects.

Meet Alison,

She grew up in a small town and moved to Nova Scotia 20 years ago. She brings over 20 years of Administrative experience to EPVVH.  Her love for animals brought her to this industry as she loved the idea of combining her experience with her passion for animals. Alison’s goal is to make sure our clients and their pets feel comfortable and taken care of during their visit. Alison lives in Eastern Passage with her husband Mike.  She has 2 daughters and 4 grand fur babies (3 cats, 4 dogs) In her spare time she enjoys snuggling her 10-month old dachshund Rosie, riding on the ATV or spending time with her family and friends.

Hannah graduated from the Dalhousie agricultural campus in 2022 and has recently become a Registered Veterinary Technician. She enjoys radiology, venipuncture, and nutrition; creating maintenance and weight loss plans. Outside of her professional life, Hannah enjoys gardening, video games, drawing, and teaching her cats tricks (so far, Barnie knows 5 tricks)! She shares her home with 3 cats, Marilyn, Arnold, and Barnie.

Kelsey joined our team in March 2024 as a Registered Veterinary Technician, and from day one, she has been an incredible asset to our clinic. With a deep commitment to patient care, she is often found in the treatment area, providing essential support to our doctors and ensuring our patients receive top-notch care.

Beyond her technical skills, Kelsey brings a wicked sense of humor and a fun, positive energy that makes every shift better. She’s not only a fantastic teammate but also a great mentor, always willing to share her knowledge and help colleagues refine their technical skills.

We are so grateful to have Kelsey as part of our growing team—her dedication, expertise, and infectious enthusiasm make our clinic a better place for both our patients and our people!

Nicole graduated from the Veterinary Assistant program in 2022. Before shifting to small animal medicine, she spent years managing a horse barn, honing her skills in animal care. Her passion for helping animals led her to work at the Humane Society in Kingston, Ontario, where she gained valuable experience.

At home, Nicole’s cat, Esther, reigns supreme, keeping life entertaining. Outside of work, she enjoys attending dance classes and spending time with friends and family.

Krista’s lifelong love for animals began in childhood, surrounded by a variety of pets, including dogs, bunnies, hamsters, fish, and reptiles. This deep-rooted passion for animal care inspired her to pursue a career in veterinary medicine.

Originally from Alberta, Krista recently relocated for a fresh start and is excited to continue her journey in Eastern Passage. Having recently graduated from her Veterinary Assistant program, she is eager to grow her skills and make a meaningful impact in the lives of animals. She is grateful for the support of the Eastern Passage Vet team, which has helped her expand her expertise and contribute to the health and well-being of every pet she cares for.

Outside of work, Krista enjoys unwinding through outdoor adventures like kayaking, capturing moments through photography, and spending quality time with friends. She looks forward to adopting a pet of her own when the time is right.

Jessica is a full-time student pursuing a degree in environmental studies.  Her passion for animals inspired her to join the Eastern Passage team in May of 2024.  Jessica has 4 cats at home, Ella, Abe, Millie and Baby.  When she’s not working at the clinic or studying, Jessica enjoys hiking her favourite trails and attempting new crochet projects!   We are so lucky to have her with us.

Crystal’s journey into the veterinary field began in February 2023 when she adopted her first dog, Tater. Though their time together was short—just 11 months filled with numerous health challenges—Tater’s impact was life-changing. His passing deepened her passion for animal care and motivated her to further her knowledge by enrolling in a Veterinary Assistant program in January 2024.

While in school, her love for rescue work grew, leading her to welcome three more dogs into her life. In January 2025, she adopted two pug puppies, Dug and Violet, who have quickly become the center of her world. In her spare time, she enjoys expanding her knowledge of the veterinary industry and training her newest furry companions.

Being part of the Eastern Passage Vet team has brought her immense joy, and she looks forward to continuing to grow alongside a team that shares her dedication to animal care.
